After a storm
What to do.

Hail, wind, and heavy rain are what put most Birmingham roofs on the call list. Here's the plain version: what to check, when to call, and how the insurance side actually works.

Active leak right now?
Don't wait. Tarping prevents the worst of it.

What to do, in order.

01

Stay off the roof.

Storm damage is brittle. Cracked shingles look fine and break the second weight goes on them. Document from the ground or with a phone camera. The roof inspection is on us.
02

Walk the perimeter.

Look for: shingle pieces in the yard, granules collected at downspouts, dented gutters or AC fins, broken tree limbs on the roofline, water stains on ceilings or in the attic.
03

Take photos and dates.

Insurers care about timing. Write down the storm date, photograph anything that looks off, and hang onto proof the storm hit your area. Local news clips, NWS alerts, even a neighbor's Facebook post all count.
04

Call us before the carrier (or call together).

We'll do a free inspection and tell you straight whether you've got a real claim. If you do, we deal with the adjuster directly. Filing a claim that goes nowhere can still bump your rates, so it's worth knowing before you pick up the phone. The drone inspection is the fastest way to find out, about 20 minutes on site.
05

Document the claim properly.

If you file, we put the paperwork together the way adjusters want to see it: measurements, photos, line items. Most denials we run into come down to bad paperwork, not the damage itself.
06

Schedule the work after approval.

Once the claim is approved, we put you on the schedule, order materials to the spec, and handle the install. You pay your deductible. Carrier pays the rest.
